Expats from the UK, Cat and Jo met in Sydney and bonded over their love for great Aussie outdoors and their unashamed realisation that they were a pair of 'climate conscious hypocrites’ - meaning that while they do what they can for our environment, (Hello, sweaty bicycle commutes to the office!) they understood that ultimately their lives will always have a carbon footprint.
When the Black Summer bushfires were raging across the country, like many Australian’s, the two were feeling devastated and helpless. It was at this moment Cat and Jo realised it was their time to do something.
They understood it wasn’t about completely overhauling their lives, it was about reducing the impact of the everyday choices they make. They wanted to create a solution that allowed people to feel confident that they were leaving a positive trace on this earth, and so, trace was born.
When they launched their first business together - producing high-quality leather handbags - Cat and Joanna were determined to make it sustainable from day one, but found it harder than expected. They wanted to make the business carbon neutral, but there were so many barriers. Two years later, Trace was born - and now the duo are on a mission to help businesses of all sizes become carbon neutral and start their journey to net zero by making it easy, quick and affordable.
