Calling all Businesses! Supplier Review Guide
Whatever type of business you run, this supplier review guide is for you.
There are a few key stakeholders within a business that are too often overlooked. These guys are the backbone to every business and it is time to make sure they represent the business we want, ethically and environmentally.
What am I talking about you ask? Household names that everyone knows, that's right, out banks, insurers, power and our super providers. ALL essential to keeping our doors open.
Banking
Is your bank ethical? Are they striving to make positive environmental and social impacts with investments and funding?
Who is the stakeholder(s) that you need to work with to help make the switch?
What information are they interested in to consider the change? Interest rates? Rewards arrangements? Branch location?
Consider what your bank invests in?
How many people within your organisation have credit cards?
Maybe you could ask;
“Do you support natural resources?”
“Does your bank invest in fossil fuels/gambling/weapons/tobacco?”
“Where are your call centres?”
Some that don’t invest in fossil fuels include; Bendigo Bank, Suncorp, ME Bank, Heritage Bank, and Teachers Mutual Bank. Now this is a starting point, everyone is responsible to do their own research and manage their financial obligations. You can find some more information on MarketForces or BankTrack or CanStar or Don’t Bank on the Bomb.
Power
Who makes your lights turn on and gives your computer it’s juice?! That’s right, electricity is next on the list.
Find out who you currently use, you might be pleasantly surprised and your organisation is already powered with green energy.
If not, no fear! There are lots of options and once again you may like the way they operate, easy apps, people to talk to and hell even cheaper prices.
Now this was a game changer in our house and a big dollar saver. We moved to PowerShop and I have never looked back. You PRE purchase your electricity and can buy bulk. There are lots of different options available and you can see some on the GreenElectricityGuide.
Cleaning
So fresh and so clean, clean with products that don’t poison our office, body or planet.
Think that every purchase you make is either helping or harming the planet. Here are a few switches for you;
Loo paper, cleaning clothes, tissues, paper towel > Who gives a Crap
Cleaning Products > Pleasant State or Zero Co.
Hand soap > Single Use Ain’t Sexy
If you have made these switches you are going a cracking job of keeping those nasty chemicals away from our sinks which means our water ways. Nice one!
Now it’s to commit. Change one a week or a month. You’ve got to start somewhere.
You’ve got this!
